10 Years of the MACA Cancer 200 Ride

The MACA Cancer 200 ride enters its 10th year this year, and we are proud to be sponsors of the ride. The ride supports the incredible work that the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research does in finding treatments and cures to stop cancer in its tracks. Unfortunately, most of us know someone with or who has had cancer. 1 in 2 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer by the age of 85. Over 145,000 new cases of cancer in Australia are reported every year. This is why it is so important for us to support such a worthwhile cause, which will benefit so many people both in Australia, and around the world.

The ride takes place over two days in October, covering 200km across WA. Each rider must raise a minimum of $2,500, with 100% of all donations going to the Harry Perkins Institute. So far, $3,756,595 has been raised by over 1,500 riders in 2021 alone. These funds allow the Perkins Institute to continue their life-saving research, and Steadyrack is proud to be part of this incredible initiative.

The riders for the MACA Cancer 200’s 10th year have some incredibly touching and moving stories. Learning about the reasons behind some rider’s involvement in the MACA Cancer 200 makes you realise that no one is immune to cancer, whether you are fit, healthy and display no symptoms at all, cancer does not discriminate. It’s scary, and devastating, and makes the work that the Harry Perkins Institute does so important and necessary.

The Ride is a chance for people from all walks of life to come together, share their stories, and understand that they are not alone in whatever stage of their journey they are on. It’s an emotional couple of days, but it brings the riders closer, and instils a powerful sense of community and togetherness. Feeling heard and supported is so important in the fight against cancer.

With over 200 researchers, scientists and doctors, the Perkins is dedicated to innovation and collaboration. Funds raised by riders in the MACA Cancer 200 go directly to the teams at the Perkins who are committed to finding answers to defeat cancer.
